Is AviaLog free?
Yes. AviaLog v1.0 is completely free, with every feature unlocked. There's no account to create, no trial clock, and no ads.
Can I switch between FAA and EASA formats?
Yes. You pick a standard the first time you open the app, and you can change it anytime in Settings → Logbook Standard. AviaLog adapts the fields and terminology to match the standard you choose, and switching never deletes any flights you've already logged.
How do I move my logbook over from another app?
AviaLog imports a CSV export from your current logbook. It recognizes the common column layouts from apps like ForeFlight, LogTen, MyFlightbook and similar.
- In your old app, export your logbook as CSV.
- Get that file onto your device (AirDrop, Files, iCloud Drive or email).
- In AviaLog, go to Settings → Backup, Import & Export → Import Flights from CSV and choose the file.
Importing the same file twice is safe: flights already in your logbook are skipped. If any columns don't line up, email us the CSV header row and we'll help you map it.
How do I export my logbook as CSV or PDF?
For a spreadsheet, open Settings → Backup, Import & Export → Export Logbook. The CSV is ideal for moving your flights to another app. For a printable summary, open Profile → Reports to create a PDF (US Letter for FAA logbooks, A4 for EASA). Either file goes to the iOS share sheet, so you choose where to save or send it.
A CSV holds flights only. To protect everything, including credentials and attached documents, use a full backup (below).
How do I back up everything, or move to a new phone?
Use a full backup. It is one file holding your flights, aircraft, credentials, attached documents and profile settings.
- Open Settings → Backup, Import & Export and tap Create Full Backup.
- Tap Save Backup File and save it to Files, iCloud Drive, or AirDrop it to yourself.
- On the new phone, install AviaLog, open the same screen and tap Restore from Backup, then choose the file.
Restoring replaces everything currently in the app on that device, and asks you to confirm first. Because your logbook lives only on your phone, making a backup every so often is the best protection against a lost or broken device.
Where is my data stored? Is it private?
Entirely on your device. AviaLog has no account system and no servers — your flights, aircraft, certificates and attachments never leave your iPhone. The app collects no analytics and contains no trackers. See the Privacy Policy for the full details.
Reminders aren't showing up. How do I fix that?
AviaLog uses local notifications for medical, certificate and currency expirations. If they aren't appearing:
- Make sure reminders are turned on in Settings → Notifications inside AviaLog. The app first asks for permission when you save a credential that expires.
- Check that iOS allows them: iOS Settings → Notifications → AviaLog → Allow Notifications.
- Confirm the expiration date on the record is in the future — reminders fire at 60, 30, 7 and 0 days before it. Credentials marked "No expiration date" don't get reminders.
How does AviaLog track currency and credentials?
Landing currency is worked out from the flights you log, separately for each category and class you fly, using the rules of your logbook standard: FAR 61.57 for FAA, FCL.060 for EASA. Add your medical, ratings and certificates from the Profile tab and AviaLog shows how long each has left. Ratings that never expire can be marked "No expiration date".
AviaLog is a record-keeping aid. You remain responsible for confirming you meet the requirements for each flight.
What languages does AviaLog support?
English, French, Spanish, German and Portuguese. AviaLog follows your device language by default, and you can override it in Settings → Language.
Is there iCloud sync across my devices?
Not yet. iCloud sync is planned for a future update and will be optional. Until then, use a full backup file to protect your logbook or move it to another device.
How do I delete all my data?
You can delete individual flights, aircraft and credentials inside the app. To remove everything at once, delete AviaLog from your device — because all data is local, that erases it completely. Create a full backup first if you might want it later.
I have a bug, a question, or a feature idea.
We'd genuinely like to hear it. Email us at the address at the top of this page — include your device model and iOS version for bugs, and screenshots always help. Feature requests from pilots shape where AviaLog goes next.
